At Abide, we love hearing and learning from our users, and we were intrigued by the interest in meditations that were related to sleep.
The more we dug into this topic, the more we could see how the world tries to distract us from God’s design for rest. In today’s world, we’re encouraged to be as busy as possible. Between work, home, family, church, volunteering and time spent with friends, sleep can fall to the very bottom of our list of priorities.
If we do think about how little sleep we’re getting, it’s often just to laugh it off, even going so far as to take pride in living with the least amount of sleep possible. That’s just how it is for everyone, right?
But the truth is that God wants more for you.
What You Can Do About It
One of the best ways you can listen for help from the Lord is by turning to his word. It may seem counterintuitive to talk about actively pursuing rest, but you absolutely can take some practical steps to a better night’s sleep. And we want to make that as easy as possible for you!
Our team at Abide has collected 10 stories from the Old and New Testaments and put them into soothing audio formats that will help you get the rest God wants for you. You can listen to familiar Bible stories or discover new ones, as you learn how the Lord guided and supported people like Ruth, Paul, Zaccheaus and Bartimaeus. And you can fall asleep confident that he will do the same for you.

You may not think of sleep as a spiritual discipline, but God cares very deeply about the way you take care of your body. You function best, in your heart, soul and mind, when you are well rested.
But don’t be discouraged if you aren’t getting enough sleep! God is willing and able to heal your sleeplessness and insomnia. In Psalm 30:2, the Psalmist celebrates the way God cared for him when he asked.
“LORD my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me.” Psalm 30:2
Know that God wants to help you through sleepless nights, whether you’re dealing with lack of sleep due to busyness, anxiety, spiritual attack or any other reason.
You can trust in Christ’s provision for your life, and you can trust that he wants you to find rest.
